Parents as Partners
Parents are children’s first teachers. Parents know their children better than we ever will and as such our partnerships with them continue to influence our programs and practice each year.
Meaningful and regular parent involvement creates opportunity for building strong relationships with families – relationships that foster respect between parents, teachers and children. As such, a myriad of opportunities are offered for parents to contribute to the life of the school. We love it when a parent is passionate about a subject that the children are investigating and can loan their expertise and passion for a subject area to our students! Whenever meaningful opportunities arise we delight in hosting parents as they share in the learning experiences of the children.
The School Council, Highfields Parents’ Association, and Class Parents are three specific groups of parent volunteers that work alongside the staff to offer Highfielders the best possible experience each year.
Families are also invited to attend special events throughout the year, including special morning teas, school assemblies, class information sessions and parenting seminars.
